Mark Horowitz
Dr. Mark Horowitz is the Co-Founder of Outro Health, a digital health company that helps people safely stop antidepressants using neurobiology-based tapering methods. Dr. Horowitz is also a Clinical Research Fellow in Psychiatry with the NHS in London, Visiting Lecturer in Psychopharmacology at King’s College London, and Honorary Clinical Research Fellow at University College London. He holds a PhD from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King’s College London, specializing in the neurobiology of depression and antidepressant action. As the lead author of the Maudsley Deprescribing Guidelines and co-author of the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ guidance on Stopping Antidepressants, his work has informed the national guidelines on tapering psychiatric medications. Dr. Horowitz has published extensively in journals like The Lancet Psychiatry and JAMA Psychiatry, combining professional expertise with personal experience to advocate for safe medication tapering practices.
