James Doty
James R. Doty, MD is an inventor, entrepreneur, philanthropist, author and an adjunct professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at Stanford University School of Medicine. He founded and directs the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE) at Stanford University of which His Holiness the Dalai Lama is the founding benefactor. Dr. Doty is also the founder and CEO of Happi (happi.ai), a healthcare company focused on creating a digital platform that uses artificial intelligence combined with a human avatar to treat mental health issues. He is the author of the New York Times Bestseller, Into the Magic Shop: A Neurosurgeon’s Quest to Discover the Mysteries of the Brain and the Secrets of the Heart and the follow-up in 2019, Lessons from the Magic Shop. His latest book came out May 7 and is entitled Mind Magic.
