Dawn Mussallem
Dr. Dawn Mussallem, DO, DipABLM, is a physician, scientist, and educator whose work lives where rigorous medicine meets the fullness of being human.
She is the Global Chief Medical Officer of Fountain Life, where she leads clinical strategy for a next-generation preventive health model that brings together advanced diagnostics, data-driven personalization, and lifestyle medicine to extend both healthspan and human flourishing. She is also the Founding Chief Science Officer of IM8 Health, the science-first nutrition company from Prenetics co-founded with David Beckham, where she guides formulation, research, and scientific standards. She continues her academic work as an External Research Investigator at Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Mussallem spent two decades at Mayo Clinic, including her training. As a consultant in the Department of Hematology/Oncology and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic Florida, she served as a diagnostic breast specialist at the Robert and Monica Jacoby Center for Breast Health. In 2015 she founded the Mayo Clinic Integrative Medicine & Breast Health Program. She served as Medical Director for the Center for Humanities in Medicine and Chair of Employee Well-being, and helped shape the next generation of physicians through leadership in the Medical Breast Training Program and the Lifestyle Medicine Residency Curriculum.
She is double board-certified, including certification in Lifestyle Medicine, and brings more than 25 years of patient-centered clinical and wellness leadership. She is internationally recognized for her work in breast medicine, lifestyle medicine, integrative oncology, cancer survivorship, and longevity medicine.
Her perspective was shaped on both sides of the bed. Three months into medical school, she was diagnosed with stage IV cancer. Years later, heart failure led to a heart transplant in 2021. On February 6, 2022, she became the first person in the world to run a full marathon one year after heart transplantation. Living as a patient crystallized her purpose: helping people flourish during and after adversity by translating evidence-based medicine into clear, hope-restoring strategies for healing, resilience, and vitality.
Across her research, peer-reviewed publications, and innovation work, Dr. Mussallem focuses on lifestyle medicine for disease prevention and human optimization, microbiome-guided precision nutrition, nutraceutical and off-label pharmaceutical strategies to improve quality of life in cancer, and the science of human flourishing.
A sought-after keynote speaker, Dr. Mussallem speaks to large global audiences of physicians, executives, health leaders, and the public, bringing clinical science and lived experience together in a way that moves people to action. She co-chairs the Blue Zones Jacksonville Steering Committee and serves as a medical advisor to the Center for Nutrition Studies, Myndstream, and Ora, and as a research collaborative partner with Viome.
Her honors include the Mayo Clinic Patient Experience Award, Mayo Clinic Instructor of the Year, the American College of Physicians Volunteerism Award, and recognition as a Marquis Who’s Who in America Top Doctor.
Her philosophy is simple and hard-won: aliveness is a daily practice, and science can light the way. Choose Fully Alive.
