Johanna Hellrigl is the chef-owner of Ama, an award-winning, mission-driven Italian restaurant near the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Raised between the kitchens of Manhattan and Northern Italy by her late father, Chef Andreas Hellrigl, she blends a rich culinary heritage with a multidisciplinary background in international affairs and advocacy, along with a certification in integrative nutrition.
Beyond Ama, she consults for restaurants, brands, and events—helping them evolve beyond conventional food systems and shift toward thoughtful, nutrient-forward, and environmentally responsible culinary models. Her work centers on nourishment, community, and sustainability—redefining restaurants and equipping businesses to build lasting, purpose-driven programming.
